More Dinosaur art for the Institute of Vertebrate Palaeontology & Palaeoanthropology, Beijing.
This time I was to illustrate the delicate feeding of a tyrannosaur which used it's massive teeth with surprising precision to scrape flesh and cartilage from bone.
This was my first painting of a big scaly dinosaur in many years, so I did a lot of research to get something that I thought looked like an animal that could really live instead of a fantasy creature.
Painted in Photoshop, wanted to try and keep it loose, with some visible brush strokes, though I was up against it with all those scales! Still working on my values, which I think are my weakest point.
